Dust Problems and Removal
Lens Changing
One of the biggest problems with digital SLR's concerns dust getting into your camera. Once on the sensor it is hard to get rid of and will provide each and every one of your photos with a nasty blotch. When changing lenses be sure to keep dust, dirt, sand and any other particles well away. Some cameras have a function that you can turn on which vibrates the sensor briefly after the camera is turned on eradicating dust particles on the sensor. If you do get dirt on your sensor as I have had problems with recently there are 3 options.
- 1) ignore it and for the photos it is obvious in, just Photoshop the blotches out
- 2) purchase a program which gets rid of the blotches on all of your photos
- 3) get the particles or scratches removed by a professional repairer. This will cost you about $40 - $100 roughly so it is good to try and avoid dust getting in there in the first place.
If you are a serious photographer and have to change lenses a lot, you should definitely consider a camera with the sensor vibration mode available as it will get rid of many of the particles which every professional photographer learns to dread.
Note that dust on the lens itself can usually be cleaned with the little brush blower which came with your camera.
