Colour Balance
There are a variety of methods of changing the colours on your photos. Colour balance is one of the most common and can allow you to warm up your picture, make the sky bluer, grass greener etc.
Saturation and Hue
Sometimes photos look nice with low saturation and sometimes with increased saturation. If you look at some artistic photos they have taken most of the colour out of the shot giving a nostalgic dream like feel to the image. Tourism brochures as a contrast often are filled with ridiculously over saturated images. You may be tempted to do this to your photos, however it is easy to go too far and they will end up looking fake. You might also find excessively saturated pictures are more difficult to print when you take them down to the local photo shop. The Hue wheel lets you rotate the colour spectrum for every colour. More used for crazy effects, but it can be used instead of colour balance to slightly adjust colours in a photo.
